Le service de Neurochirurgie est affilié à l’équipe de Recherche INSERM Intégration Centrale de la Douleur, qui étudie les mécanismes des douleurs chroniques et explore des traitements novateurs au service des patients qui souffrent.

 

En partenariat avec d’autres CHU et établissements publics à caractère scientifique et technologique (EPST), il participe à plusieurs projets de recherche collaboratifs sur les tumeurs cérébrales, les douleurs chroniques réfractaires, l’organisation du langage dans le cerveau humain, ou encore la chirurgie du rachis (prothèses discales).

 
Enseignement

En ce qui concerne ses missions pédagogiques, le service de Neurochirurgie est rattaché à l’Université Jean Monnet et la Faculté de médecine Jacques Lisfranc de Saint-Etienne. Dans ce cadre, il dispense des enseignements aux étudiants en médecine et aux médecins en formation, mais aussi dans d’autres champs professionnels de la santé (écoles de masso-kinésithérapie, instituts de soins infirmiers).
